At the worship planning retreat this evening we were asked to take a walk and collect metaphors – something that could be used as a sermon illustration. My method of collection was to take pictures. Do you have any suggestions for captions for these photos that would point out a sermonic metaphor?
Trees- “intertwined”
Chair- “host / hostess” “Hospitality” “Availability” “Conversation waiting to happen”
dandelion: Lilies of the field
chair: Invitation to Sabbath
broken (chair leg?) Unfirm foundation
cross against spring sky: New Life
I love the two plastic chair photos… “broken by use” demonstrating that is our act of following christ and being used for his glory for his purposes that breaks us of our earthly bonds and desires. Although we often would look at this chair and say it is beat up, God looks at it and says it was well used by him.
